A new £65million office space project has been given planning approval

The boss of Movie House Cinemas has not ruled out the retention of a cinema on the Dublin Road.

The popular cinema there is a potential casualty of a new £65m Grade A Office space on the site.

The ‘One Bankmore Square’ project is to create 570 construction jobs and was granted planning permission by Belfast City Council recently.

And while there is potential for a cinema to be incorporated at the site, its future is by no means certain.

Michael McAdam, Movie House managing director, told Belfast Live that ‘negotiations’ were ongoing.

He said: “We are still in negotiations with the developer to see if a cinema can be incorporated into this project.

“Movie House Dublin Road continues to trade as normal and we have a full line up of fantastic movies scheduled.”

Speaking about the new office space project, Gary McCausland, CEO of Richland Group said: “We’re delighted with this outcome and excited that we can now concentrate on delivering One Bankmore Square, N Ireland’s most ambitious office scheme to the market and continue to progress discussions with potential occupiers.”
