Don’t fall for this fake Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus video

But it’s still worth a look

Don’t fall for this fake Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus video

While we’re starting to see renders of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, live images and videos are yet to really start emerging, so it’s no wonder a recent video purporting to show the larger S9 Plus is gaining attention, but it’s almost certainly a fake.

Originally posted by Slashleaks, the video has already been debunked, with the site updating to say it’s probably a Chinese clone going by the name HDC S9.

But there are plenty of other red flags. As SamMobile points out, the bottom bezel is larger than we’d expect, the power button is unusually large and a bunch of Samsung apps are missing from the app drawer. So no, this isn’t the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.

A close copy

That said, the design is clearly based on the leaks we’ve seen so far, so assuming they’re accurate this could still be close to how the actual S9 Plus will look, with the main difference from the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus being visible on the back, where there’s a dual-lens camera and a fingerprint scanner below it, rather than to the side.

And while this isn’t the real deal we wouldn’t be surprised if genuine photos and videos do start emerging soon, as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are both likely to launch at MWC 2018 in late February, and leaks usually start to ramp up in the weeks before an announcement.
