Auto Q Belfast – Cars – IT Support Case Study

Precept IT December 22, 2012 0 Comments

Precept have recently taken over the IT support and services at Auto Q in Belfast.

We caught up with one of the director’s at Auto Q, Craig McCormick to find out how thing’s were going since the changeover.

Tell us a bit more about Auto Q please

AutoQ was originally formed 28 years ago and taken over 6 years ago by the current owners. We employ around 13 staff in total in both our sales and servicing departments. We are an independent used car dealer that provides prestige vehicles in the used car market dealing largely in BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Porsche amongst others brands. We also help fleet companies and private customers maintain these vehicles through our service department.

What was your company’s need?

Our need was to improve our current IT situation with a faster more hands on approach company. In previous years, we had been using a company Ad hoc for a while then moved to a contract with a large company. We felt we fell in between the suitability for either of these companies and we were looking for a company that had the manpower to attend to our IT issues quickly but did not get lost within their system.

Which characteristics do you look for in a supplier / partner?

A person to talk to, a face that fits the name. A local company who are professional, provide value for money and do not need long term contracts. Working with used cars and knowing the unexpected pitfalls, Fixed price support is a must!

How did you plan the project / service with Precept IT?

We were approached in a friendly manner by Precept IT. Our new account manager came out to meet us. He seemed knowledgeable, trustworthy and confident in the company. There was no hard sell and everything was upfront and honest. We decided to go with instinct as it seemed to be the type of company we were looking for and it has been working very well ever since.

How did you work together to achieve an optimum result?

Precept IT assessed our current IT situation and offered various different alternatives/improvements again with no hard sell. We trusted these guys and went with most of the recommendations in line with our budgets.

What do you like about the outcome so far?

We have no complaints so it must be a good thing? We have implemented some of the improvements and changes slowly to meet small budgets. In comparison to other companies, we feel the products are great value for money but we get the service to match.

Final thoughts?

We have 7/8 IT users on site that access all sales and service records on our main server. It’s essential this data can be accessed at any time and are backed up daily as its the core of our business. Going to cloud backup is so much easier than the manual hard drives which I kept forgetting to change. It takes me no time or effort

Thanks for your time Craig!
